January Event - Bookings Open
Thursday, 20 December 2007 11:57

Right, the next FRAG LAN event is set and will be held from 25-27th January 2008 at Crawford College, La Lucia.

Bookings are open at Langames and as per the norm, if you are not able to book via Langames, just drop me a e-mail and I will book you on the FRAG site. My contact details are on the "The Team" page, located here.

The schedule for the LAN is not set as yet, but will be soon so check back for updates. Games will be revised as Call of Duty 4, Crysis and Unreal Tournament 3 are proving to be very popular. Sponsors are also not confirmed as yet, but there will be prizes.

Arena 77 is going to be using FRAG LAN as a Durban Qualifying Leg with the winners possibly going to Jhb to compete in the National Gaming League, so if you're into gaming as much as most of the FRAG Lanners, you don't want to miss this one.

See you there and have a fantastic Festive Season. Make sure you get lots of pc hardware for Christmas.

One leaves us
Thursday, 13 December 2007 16:46

It is with sadness that we announce that founding member Ron2K has decided to leave the FRAG team. Ron has been struggling with study commitments and FRAG since September (which is why he hasn't been at the last two events), and finally decided that it was in his best interests to pull out of FRAG.

Ron has handed over control of the website to douglash and control of the forums to freeloader, so they are now the people to contact for any problems related to the above.

We wish Ron all the best in the future, and hope that one day he'll rejoin us.

December Debriefing
Monday, 10 December 2007 16:04

Well, today is Monday 10th December 2007 and this past weekend we held another FRAG LAN. Firstly, let me apologise on behalf of all the admin staff for the power problems we had. We still don't really know what the problem was, but we suspect it being faulty earth leakage at the venue.

Thanks to all that stuck through the Friday night and didn't give up on us, I think it was worth it in the end as a good time was had by all. Although the tournaments ran a little later (due to the power problems) we still gave away some fantastic prizes, namely an AMD X4 Phenom cpu sponsored by PC Format, a EVGA 8800GTS 320MB superclocked graphics card sponsored by FoxComp, 2 x Gigabyte Perspec Chassis from Rectron and a R1000 cash voucher from NGR Computers; 10 subscriptions to PC Format magazine as well as a whole bunch of games as well as cash. The weekend away to the Drakensberg was not given away at this LAN, but it will be at the next event.

Speaking of the next event, it will be held at Crawford College, La Lucia from the 25-27th January 2008. Booking will be available shortly on LANgames.

Please post all your feedback/comments regarding the LAN on the forum thread here. We welcome all feedback as this gives us an idea of what you think and what you want. We also have a thread on the forum here for you to let us know what you thought of the catering and how we could improve it, if at all.

Finally, a very BIG thanks to all our sponsors, without which this LAN would probably never happen. They are in no particular order:

  • NGR Computers
  • FoxComp
  • Rectron
  • PC Format
  • Matrix Warehouse (Matrix Warehouse sponsored a on-site technician for any problems we could not fix)

See you in 2008 at the next event. Check back here regularly for updates as to Arena 77 and FRAG LAN becoming the regional qualifying leg with the KZN team going up to Jhb for the main qualifier for ESWC.
